Commonly Asked Questions about your Porsche

How often does my Porsche require scheduled maintenance?

A. In just the last several years Porsche has evolved into a diverse car line with several model platforms and engine combinations. Specific maintenance requirements vary from model to model but your Porsche's specific needs are detailed in your Owners Manual. There are some general rules of thumb however;

2008 Carrera, Boxster and Cayman sport cars as well as V8 Cayenne's have a 1 year or 12,000 mile service interval.
2005-2007 Sports Cars and 2003-2006 V8 Cayenne have a 2 year or 20,000 mile service interval.
Sports cars model years 2004 and older have an annual or 15,000 mile service interval.

My engine check light just came on. What do I do?

A. It is important to distinguish between a light that is flashing and one that is constantly on. The vast majority of check engine light experiences involve a light that is constantly illuminated. This happens when your vehicle's emissions system diagnosis that there might be an emissions issue. First occurrence check engine lights frequently resolve themselves within a few miles of driving. If not give us a call and we'll arrange an appointment for you to bring it in. Should the light begin to flash, safely pull off the roadway, turn the vehicle off and contact either your dealer or Porsche Roadside Assistance.

My tire pressure monitoring system tells me I need to add air to my tire(s) but my tires are properly inflated.

A. The tire pressure monitoring system on you Porsche is very precise and takes into account a number of factors that simply tire gauge cannot. As a result your tire gauge may indicate that the tires are properly inflated when in fact they are not. When inflating your tires it is important to remember that temperature affects pressure and adjust the tire pressures to the level that the car indicates is correct even if that level seems to be a bit hight.
