Porsche Miles Like Dog Years

There are different philosophies in Porsche ownership.  Some say keep the miles down for resale's sake, while others think it's a sin not to drive and enjoy your Porsche.  Who's right?  Is there a one size fits all?
First let's examine the not to drive scenario.  Among the pluses are higher resale, less maintenance, and preservation of a piece of art.  However by not driving your Porsche, you are missing the benefits that eclipse mere transportation.  By not driving it, the seals can dry (and leak), the tires can dry and flat spot and the battery will require a trickle charge or the dreaded jump-start.
Every potential pre-owned Porsche buyer wants the same thing; low miles.  These are the first words out of this client's mouth.  Surprisingly, a well maintained Porsche with some miles on it is both a better running, and more reliable vehicle than one that has been sitting for years collecting dust.  Just as maintenance is critical to the Porsche that has been driven, proper care of a low mileage garage queen can prove to be more critical.
The issue becomes what priorities are more important to the owner.  The one common denominator all Porsche owners share is the Porsche is seen as a reward or even an achievement.  All Porsche owners have, at one time, envisioned themselves behind the wheel of a Porsche.
Some sports cars are easier to not drive.  The maintenance is sky high and even moderate use will result in disastrous depreciation.  Porsche, on the other hand, affords the reliability and endurance that will easily permit daily use.  This is for the owner who rewards himself daily, not just on the occasional trip to the garage.
High mileage on a Porsche seems to be somewhere north of eight thousand miles per year, not the 12 to 15,000 miles that the average sedan will be driven.  There is a penalty for those extra miles, but what a joy it is to be able to immerse yourself in your passion on a daily basis.
Part of the Porsche value equation is the entertainment factor.  Most cars are simply purchase price plus cost of ownership minus resale to equal value.  The Porsche owner should also determine a monthly value for entertainment and add that to the equation.
Are miles more expensive on a Porsche than the family sedan?  Of course, but the rewards delivered by the Porsche driving experience will offset that for the driving connoisseur.
For those who have felt deprived of the driving experience worthy of their Porsche.  The Ozark Tour will scratch that itch.  We can provide the cure for those who want to fully appreciate the engineering that has gone into their Porsche.
For those of you not willing to put the miles on your Porsche, have fun polishing the belly pan.  Luckily, we are a Griot's dealer and can help with that too.
